Step into the world of an authentic, nineteenth-century Turkish coffeehouse, where you can taste traditional dishes prepared by our celebrated chef Mr. Cebrail Demirtaš; browse and purchase Turkish rugs collected by owner Brent Hyder during his travels in Turkey; and sip a narghileh (water pipe) after you’ve finished your last bite of one of our authentic Turkish desserts. . The Flying Carpet Turkish Café is located in a restored 1909 bungalow built of the now almost extinct longleaf pine at the corner of Washington and West Magnolia Avenues, on the edge of the historic Fairmount neighborhood. You will feel you have traveled overseas to a small cosmopolitan café, somewhere in the Levant, when you dine in the original ambience of this beautifully preserved house that has been carefully enhanced with antiques from the Ottoman Empire. We are always BYOB (no charge for glassware). Reservations are not required, but suggested. To schedule a personal appointment to view our off-site Turkish rugs, call our friend and visiting rug merchant Mr. Abdullah Gundogdu for an appointment at 845-558-7657.
